Critical Analysis of Reading Blog #2 - Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying

"The Art of Social Media" which is written by Guy Kawasaki describes how to respond to comments in chapter four. In the class, we studied that more than three comments lead to arguments in you blog so that you should not post too many responses.

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like smartphones and computers. These days, the number of cyberbullying cases are increasing. According to TeenSafe (2016), 87 percent of today's youth have witnessed cyberbullying.

The bully is anonymous and can happen at anytime and in any place. I think the biggest problem is parents and teachers cannot access to all of their kids' accounts. That's why children tend to take it all on themselves. To solve it, some people says that parents should have access to their accounts in order to make sure their online activities are safe. However, I think it is invasion of privacy and it is an impracticable plan.

The shortcut to solve the problem is just to educate children in school and to know the existence of cyberbullying.

  1. I think it is a very good point that granting parental access to minors' social media accounts is an invasion of privacy. However, I think that if the child is okay with giving their parents access, it could be beneficial. I personally know of a child YouTube star that doesn't read any comments left on her content. Instead, her mom reads all of the content to filter out things she might want to hear!
