Movie Theater Differences
1. Price of movie tickets
The price here was 10.99 dollars. It is cheaper than in Japan. The price of movie tickets in Japan is evenly about 18 dollars for adults. Besides, there is a discount day for the ladies every Wednesdays so that women can watch movies only for 11 dollars. There is also a discount day for everyone on the first day of each month. It is called "First day," and people can watch only for 11 dollars. Besides this, services comes with benefits such as discounts at membership. But still, the price in the US is always cheaper than that in Japan. I am so jealous!
2. Do not laugh out loud
While I was watching the movie, partly because it was a comedy movie, but people laughed out loud and I was really surprised. Many people in Japan laugh quietly or with restraint even if the movie was a comedy.
In a similar way, Japanese TV drama does not use laugh tracks. I think it is related to the nationalities.
This is so incredibly interesting... $18 for a movie ticket is so expensive! At my movie theatre at home, it is only $8 and we have $5 movie days on Tuesday so even $11 is a lot to me. Also people laugh and yell all the time during movies here in the U.S. If I went to Japan, I would embarrass myself and be the only one laughing in the theatre... Haha! It's so cool that you are experiencing so many cultural differences here and learning about the US. If you have any questions, you can always ask me!
ReplyDeleteHave you visited the Ada Movie Theater? Ticket prices are even lower than Columbus. But you might find the decor less inviting.
ReplyDeleteHave you visited the Shannon Theater in Bluffton? $4 (cash only) seats! Bluffton is only 20 minutes from Ada. I like watching movies at the theater in Bluffton. Plus, Shirley's popcorn is adjacent to the theater. There, gourmet popcorn is sold. There is nothing better than a movie and popcorn.
